This luxury Italian fashion house was founded in 1968 by Gerolamo (Gimmo) Etro to create elegant but vibrant, sophisticated but dynamic fabrics and textiles that would allow designers to keep experimenting with their creations.
Today, Etro is a family-run brand, with each member handling a certain product category. One common thread tying them together is their love and passion for travel, which continues to serve as inspiration for them. Perfumery, perhaps, is one of the best art forms to capture the essence of exotic places, so it was only a matter of time before Etro dipped its toes in the world of fragrance.
The brand launched its first fragrance, Ambrée Ambra, in 1989, and has since taken a unique approach. Etro has created many ‘single note’ or ‘soliflore‘ fragrances in celebration of certain precious materials and even tried to capture the essence of colors in their creations. Fragrance enthusiasts are encouraged to layer so they can come up with sublime, personalized scents.
