The world-renowned French cosmetics brand Lancôme Paris was founded in 1935 by Armand Petitjean, who drew inspiration for the name and the symbol from the ruinous castle of Le Château de Lancosme.
Lancôme solely focused on fragrances for a while and launched five fragrances, namely Tendre Nuit, Bocages, Conquete, Kypre, and Tropiques, before the 1935 World's Fair in Brussels, Belgium. It branched out into cosmetics and skincare soon after.
In 1964, Lancôme was acquired by L'Oreal which sparked a series of successful fragrance releases. The brand has collaborated with several renowned noses like Christine Nagel, Christophe Raynaud, Jean-Louis Sieuzac, Maurice Roucel, Olivier Polge, Dominique Ropion, Nathalie Lorson, Francis Kurkdjian, and Alienor Massenet.
